She's the Bee's Knees

16" by 20" oil, cold wax and stitching on canvas

SOLD

I began this piece by sorting through scraps cut from several abandoned paintings. The crown, head, wings, parts of the dress, arms, and legs are all stitched to the canvas. The scraps were the inspiration. The rest of the process involved trial and error, intuition and a fair amount of problem-solving.  A friend recently used the term "bee's knees" and that stuck in my head when I was choosing a title.
