I enjoy playing with the idea of still life...or not-so-still life. I planned to paint a girl in a vase. However, as the painting progressed, I realized the vase was swallowing her up, so I took it down to cup size. I knew there had to be a story here, but it took me a while to figure it out. The cherry blossoms led me to the cherry in her hand, which led to the glove, which led to the sherry which led to the title, "A Cup of Cherry Sherry."
